Northridge Food Parade

Teenagers parading through the streets of Layton, closing roads, and flooding the air with music and screams.

Over 200 students marched from Northridge High School to North Layton Jr. High. The one-mile parade was all in the name of fighting hunger in Davis School District. North Layton’s teen center helps to provide students with snacks and other resources so they can focus on learning. But recently, the shelves have gone bare.

The Northridge National Honor Society decided to help their sister school. Students organized a food drive and collected over five truckloads of food. School leaders say they are blown away by the student’s commitment to serving others.

“It was such a moment of wonder for these kids, like wow, collectively we can do so much when we have a goal, when we have heart, and we want to impact those who have asked us for help,” National Honor Society Advisor Jessica Holtry said.

Helping our neighbors strengthens the entire community. A small act of kindness can make a big difference in someone’s day—and it reminds us that we’re all in this together.
